Families in Cuba Are Under Spiritual Attack

In February of 2004, Captain Bret spent a week in Havana, Cuba. While meeting with church leaders, he made an astonishing discovery: the condition of the family structure in Cuba is even worse than it is here in the US. A church leader told Bret that, this year, the divorce rate will be over 100%. Since the conversation was in Spanish, Bret thought he must have misunderstood; he asked the man, "How can you have a divorce rate greater than 100%?" The answer: "There will be more divorces this year than marriages!" A church youth leader says that great numbers of unmarried young women on the island become pregnant each year, and church youth are no exception.

The Homeschool Advantage has been invited to come and minister "God's Plan for a Righteous Man" to island churches. One church pastor told Bret, "If you come and bring your dance group, we can have you ministering in a different church every night for as long as you can stay!"

From Key West to Havana is only 90 miles. We could easily carry a ministry team of 6 people, plus crew, aboard the Phoenician, carrying with us everything we would need to minister to the people. A special Religious Visa must be obtained from the US Dept. of Treasury for each member of the team. If you have a desire to help the people of Cuba receive practical training in Biblical family relationships, there are several things we need:

Team members who travel MUST understand the very real dangers involved. Cuba is a COMMUNIST country; project missionaries should be reconciled to the possibility of losing their freedoms, their health, or even their lives on a trip.

Captain Bret took lots of photos while in Cuba; however, due to security concerns, these photos cannot be published, and no specifics about individuals can be discussed publicly. However, anyone wishing to get involved in this missions project is invited to visit with the Smith family in their home, view the photos, and get more specific information about the Cuban people involved in this project.
